Guardian Petitions Police Over Disappearance of 14-Year-Old in Katsina

A guardian has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State over the disappearance of a 14-year-old boy, Bright Ejiofor, who has been missing since November 2025. According to a petition filed by his guardian, James Olinya, through his legal representatives, the teenager went missing while residing with the family in Malumfashi. The case was initially reported to the Malumfashi Police Division shortly after the incident.

The petition, dated March 5, 2026, expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the case and called for further investigation by the state police command. It also alleged that a suspect, identified as Abubakar, also known as “Ina Emir,” had earlier threatened the guardian and claimed knowledge of the boy’s whereabouts. The petition further stated that the suspect was arrested and questioned by police.

According to the document, the suspect was later granted bail following intervention by community leaders, with a condition to assist in locating the missing boy. However, the guardian alleged that the suspect did not fulfil this condition. The matter was subsequently transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Police authorities have not issued an official statement on the case. The whereabouts of the missing teenager remain unknown.
