Breaking News: Supreme Court Dismisses PDP’s Bid to Remove Uzodimma as Imo Governor

In a breaking development, the Supreme Court has rejected an application by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aimed at unseating Hope Uzodinma from his position as the governor of Imo State.

Ihedioha sought the court’s intervention to issue a consequential order to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the issuance of a certificate of return, declaring him the duly elected governor of Imo State in the 2019 election.

Justice Tijjani Abubakar, delivering the lead judgment on Tuesday, declared the application lacked merit, deeming it frivolous and vexatious. He asserted that the court lacked jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter, highlighting that the stipulated 60-day period for addressing the election matter had expired.

Furthermore, Justice Abubakar imposed a fine of N40 million on Mike Ozekhome, SAN, the Counsel for the PDP, for bringing forth the matter before the court.

Additional details will follow as the story develops.
