$200m Project: President Tinubu is Behind My Success — Uba Sani

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani has revealed that his administration would not have recorded its major achievements within the last two and a half years without the consistent support of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during an Iftar session with social media influencers on Wednesday night, the Governor disclosed that Kaduna State is set to become the first subnational beneficiary of a landmark $200 million Nigeria-China poultry project. This initiative, described as the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa, was facilitated by the President’s strategic interest in the state’s economic potential.

Mega Poultry Project and Job Creation

The Governor announced that the groundbreaking for the poultry project will take place within the next two months. The project is expected to have a massive socio-economic footprint:

  • Direct Employment: At least 350 direct jobs.
  • Indirect Employment: 150,000 indirect jobs.
  • SME Support: Empowerment for approximately 10,000 small businesses within the state.

Revolutionizing Transport and Education

Governor Sani also highlighted that Kaduna will soon host the first Light Rail system in Northern Nigeria. The project, which is scheduled for a May 2026 groundbreaking, was made possible through federal benevolence.

On the educational front, the Governor reeled out significant data regarding out-of-school children:

  • Reduction in Out-of-School Children: Dropped from 580,000 at the start of his tenure to 182,000.
  • School Infrastructure: Built 104 schools in partnership with the Kuwait Development Fund and 65 secondary schools.
  • Teacher Recruitment: Plans to recruit 2,000 primary school teachers starting next month.
  • Artisanal Certification: Established vocational centers in Soba, Rigachikun, and Zangon Kataf, aiming to graduate 32,000 NBTE-certified artisans annually.

Healthcare and Agriculture Milestones

The Governor noted that Kaduna is the only state to have upgraded all 255 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) from Level 1 to Level 2 status. To sustain this, the state is recruiting 1,800 medical personnel annually over a five-year period.

In agriculture, the administration has:

  • Increased the sector’s budget from 0.5% in 2023 to over 11%.
  • Distributed 900 trucks of fertilizer free of charge to smallholder farmers.
  • Partnered with Afreximbank to build the Africa Quality Assurance Center (AQAC) to certify produce for global export.

Governor Sani concluded by thanking the influencers for their role in promoting good governance, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on human capital development and structural renewal.
