Oborevwori Urges Quality Delivery as NASS Committees Begin NDDC Project Oversight in Delta

By Anne Azuka

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for improved project quality and stronger oversight as National Assembly committees on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) commenced an inspection visit to the state. The governor made the appeal while receiving members of the Senate and House of Representatives committees, led by Asuquo Ekpenyong and Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, at Government House, Asaba.

Oborevwori said intervention agencies like the NDDC must prioritise transparency, accountability, and impact-driven projects that meet the needs of host communities. He warned against substandard work, stressing that contractors must deliver durable infrastructure. The governor also urged the adoption of feedback channels to allow communities report poorly executed projects.

According to him, while local contractors can handle smaller projects, complex infrastructure such as flyovers should be assigned to firms with the required technical capacity. Speaking earlier, Ekpenyong said the joint committee was in Delta to begin oversight of NDDC projects and engage stakeholders.

He commended the state government’s efforts in infrastructure and social development, noting that the visit aims to ensure that NDDC interventions deliver measurable benefits to communities. The committee also pledged continued collaboration with the state government to strengthen oversight and improve project outcomes across the Niger Delta.
