A philanthropist and businessman, , has declared his intention to contest the Mikang State Constituency seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nkat, founder of Timlight Group, will be challenging the re-election bid of the incumbent Speaker, , who is seeking a fourth term in office.
Speaking during his declaration, Nkat emphasised unity as the cornerstone of Mikang’s identity, declaring that “Mikang unity is not for sale.”

The aspirant pledged to strengthen cohesion among communities such as Tehl, Garkawa, Piapung and Koenoem, vowing to “reinforce the cord” that binds them together.
Nkat expressed concern over what he described as a leadership style that has become disconnected from the people, limiting opportunities for citizens to contribute ideas while neglecting pressing needs at the grassroots.
He highlighted economic challenges facing residents and promised to pursue people-centred representation that prioritises community development over personal gain.
On youth development, he said greater focus must be placed on empowering young people through skills acquisition and opportunities, noting that the future of Mikang depends largely on investment in its youth population.
The Timlight Group founder, known for his community support initiatives, particularly in youth empowerment, said his background as a businessman and teacher has prepared him for legislative responsibility.
Describing his ambition as collective, Nkat urged residents to support his vision for a new direction, saying, “This is not my ambition’s song; this is our chorus.”
The development is expected to intensify political activities in Mikang Local Government Area of as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
