A former Commissioner for Works in Kogi State, , has declared his intention to contest for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election under the .
Ahovi-Yusuf made the declaration on Saturday at LGEA Osisi Primary School Field in , stating that his ambition is aimed at bringing development closer to the people and consolidating the achievements of Governor within the constituency.
He assured party members and supporters of his commitment to work with relevant stakeholders to deliver quality representation and attract development projects to the area.
The former commissioner pledged to prioritise road infrastructure, youth empowerment, education and economic opportunities if elected, stressing that his vision is to serve as a bridge between the people and government while promoting the ideals of the APC with integrity.
“Our youths are the backbone of our communities; they are our future. We will not just train them, we will empower them to stand on their own,” he said.
Ahovi-Yusuf outlined plans for vocational training, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills acquisition and startup support for young people.
He also emphasised the need for improved access to clean water, describing the revitalisation of the Osara Dam as a key priority, noting that provision of potable water is a fundamental right of the people.
On governance, he promised transparency, accountability and regular engagement with constituents on constituency projects.
He expressed confidence that his experience in public service has adequately prepared him for effective representation in the National Assembly.
Ahovi-Yusuf previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Solid Minerals to former Governor before his appointment as Commissioner for Works by Governor Ododo. He resigned from the cabinet in March to pursue his political ambition.
Stakeholders at the event pledged their support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections.
