The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has dismissed former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as a political serial failure who can never become president of Nigeria.
Wike made this assertion on Thursday during a routine visitation of key projects sites slated for commissioning in May, 2026 for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third year anniversary.
The minister was dismissing Atiku’s claim on a national television that Tinubu’s administration is not doing enough to help the people.
Wike said, “What do you expect to hear? Atiki is a serial failure, at his level in life he should be able to disifer wben a government is doing well in one area or lacking in another area.”
“But it will be very, very wrong, and Nigerians would be laughing at such a person making that kind of statement that nothing has been done.”
Wike who faulted Atiku’s blanket judgement on Mr. President administion, to compare the Federal Capital Territory( FCT) when he was vice president and now, adding that there has been tremendious development than before.

“Let’s take from FCT, I am sure he lives in FCT very well. Let him compare FCT now and when he was the Vice President, let’s start from there. Let’s compare when he was Vice President for eight years and now, that we are just in government for almost three years. Can he compare what is FCT today and what it was when he was Vice President?’, the minister qeried.
He recounted he Atiku was rated by his boss firmer President Tinubu.
” You remember his boss, President Obasanjo, came out and said, Look, look, look, this is my Vice President is a complete failure.”
“Why would somebody whose boss has attached corruption to him be the one to say that nothing is happening in this government? He won’t win. There is no need of talking about if he becomes President, he would not be President, Wike emphasized.
He however mocked Atiku, saying when he gets to 82 years, he will still run. Even though he has said that this will be the last time. I encourage him to run again because that is the only way he can survive, is by running. So, don’t take anything seriously about what the Vice President said.
While assessing the pace of work at visited projects sites at the Aitport junction to.Kuje handled by Arab Contractors, the minister expressed satisfaction that contractor has promised one part of the bridge will be completed and the second part before the end of May.
Another port of inspection was the 7 kilometers Kuje to.Gwagwalada dualized road handled by Gilmor, which will also be completed by the end of May, 2026.
The minister noted that at the completion of these roads in satellite towns like Kuje and Gwagwalada will be competing with the city for development and commercial activities.
“Our people are happy. By the time these roads are completed, you know how Kuje will be. I am sure that people will be moving down here to put in their houses so that we will have decongestion in the city. So, I am happy with the progress of works”, Wike said.
