Osunmaibio FC Win Ekeremor Title After Penalty Shootout Victory

Osunmaibio FC have emerged champions of Ekeremor Local Government Area in the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, also known as the Prosperity Cup, after defeating Krusaders FC 8–7 on penalties.The final, played at the Ayamasa community pitch, ended 1–1 in regulation time. Bada Jude gave Osunmaibio FC the lead in the 62nd minute, before Clinton Joseph equalised late for Krusaders FC to force a penalty shootout.

Osunmaibio FC converted their chances to secure their first Ekeremor LGA title, joining other local champions in the ongoing tournament.The team received a prize of ₦1 million, while runners-up Krusaders FC were awarded ₦500,000.

Speaking after the match, Hon. Tare Porri, a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, commended the state government for sustaining the tournament, describing it as a platform for youth development and grassroots football growth. Krusaders FC coach, Genesis Suomokumo, said his team’s missed chances affected the outcome but expressed optimism ahead of the next stage of the competition.

Osunmaibio FC coach, Eshaye Denye, praised his players for their resilience in a closely contested match.The tournament continues with other local government finals as teams compete for qualification into the knockout stages.
