The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has given May as deadline for the relocation of Apo mechanic village artisans and hand- over of major road projects as he expressed satisfaction with the level and pace of work on the several critical roads and streetlight projects across the territory.
Wike stated this after site inspection on Monday, adding that the road projects are should to be finished by May 15, followed by the full installation of streetlights by May 31.
Some of the sites visited were the Wassa artisan site allocated to relocate mechanics and other informal sector operators to a purpose-built hub.
”Successive administrations have promised this relocation, but we are finally fulfilling that commitment,” Wike stated.
The minister disclosed that the administration is presently working on the modalities to successfully move artisans into the new facility, which is being handled by CGC Nigeria Limited, attributing the steady progress to a “mutual commitment” where contractors deliver on time and government’s prompt payment.
