The Kogi State Police Command has arrested six students of Federal University Lokoja over alleged involvement in a viral bullying incident. Police spokesperson, Saliu Afusat, said the arrests followed a complaint filed by a student, Oladosu Sunday, who alleged cyberstalking and assault. According to the police, the case was initially reported at the ‘B’ Division in Lokoja on March 30 and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects allegedly lured the victim to an apartment in the Felele area of Lokoja, where he was reportedly assaulted. Police said the incident was recorded and the video later circulated online.The command stated that the suspects are being investigated for offences including criminal conspiracy, assault, and cyberstalking. One of those arrested is said to be a minor.
Authorities have not released further details on prosecution but confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The police urged the public to refrain from sharing harmful content online and to report incidents of violence or cyber-related crimes to law enforcement agencies.
