Tinubu Expresses Condolences to Jonathan on Sister’s Passing

President Bola Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday following the demise of his elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan. The condolence message, conveyed through Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, acknowledged Obebhatein as a teacher, businesswoman, mother, and grandmother.

Madam Obebhatein, affectionately known as Amissi, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, at the age of 70, after a brief illness. Described as a devout Christian and virtuous woman, her burial is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with funeral details to be announced by the family.

President Tinubu urged Jonathan to find solace in the legacy of Amissi, highlighting her dedicated service to God and humanity. Similarly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, expressed his condolences, describing Madam Obebhatein as a dedicated teacher, businesswoman, and Christian leader who lived a fulfilling and impactful life.
