RTEAN Appoints Okanlomo as Lagos Chairman, Dissolves Executive Council

Adesina Hussaini, popularly known as Okanlomo, has been appointed as the chairman of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Lagos State. This announcement comes alongside the dissolution of the earlier inaugurated 35-member Lagos State RTEAN executive council.

Musa Muhammed, the RTEAN National President, made the development public in a statement. The dissolution and Okanlomo’s appointment aim to resolve a long-standing dispute with the Lagos State Government and foster industrial harmony.

In adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding dated October 2, 2023, between the Federal Government of Nigeria and organized labor, the RTEAN emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law and promoting peaceful resolutions. The statement urged all members to cooperate with the government and security agencies while resuming operations in motor parks in Lagos State.

The resolution followed a 15-month-long dispute that led to a ban on RTEAN activities in Lagos. The appointment of Okanlomo signifies a positive step towards restoring order within the association.
