Federal High Court Declares Rivers State N800bn 2024 Budget Illegal

The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the N800 billion 2024 budget signed into law by Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara, as null and void. The governor had presented the budget to a faction of the state House of Assembly, consisting of four lawmakers. After its passage by these lawmakers, Governor Fubara proceeded to sign the budget into law. The court, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, ruled that all actions taken by the four lawmakers were nullified. Additionally, Martin Amaewhule was recognized as the speaker of the state assembly. Further details will be provided later.
