Breaking: Senate Questions Service Chiefs on National Security

In a critical development, the Nigerian Service Chiefs are currently engaging with the National Assembly to address concerns regarding the prevailing state of insecurity across the nation.

Arriving at the National Assembly on Wednesday, the security chiefs responded to a Senate resolution for an interactive session aimed at addressing the escalating security challenges.

Entering the hallowed Chambers at 12:39, they commenced discussions with the Senate Committee to provide insights and strategies for combating the heightened insecurity plaguing various regions, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where the capital, Abuja, is located.

Of particular concern is the recent incursion of bandits and kidnappers into the FCT, prompting urgent action to quell the threats and restore peace to affected areas.

Moreover, the scope of insecurity extends to southwestern states like Ekiti and Lagos, underscoring the nationwide urgency for effective security measures.

The Senate’s decision to summon the service chiefs followed an emergency session convened on January 30, during which the alarming insecurity situation was extensively deliberated.

Further details on the outcome of the interaction and proposed measures to address the security challenges are expected to be disclosed in due course.
