Altercations Lead to Severe Injury: Man Accused of Causing Grievous Harm to Neighbor

By Daniel Edu

In a disturbing incident, 33-year-old Dominic Kenneth from Abdul Rasaq Street, Balogun area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, faced charges at the Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing grievous harm to his neighbor during a heated altercation.

Kenneth pleaded not guilty to the count charge of causing grievous harm, which he allegedly committed on March 1 around 12:20 p.m. The prosecution, led by ASP Christian Okonofua, claimed that Kenneth unlawfully removed a scrotum from his neighbor Pascal Uche’s private part in the midst of their dispute. This act is said to violate Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, carrying a potential seven-year prison sentence upon conviction.

Magistrate Mrs. A.O. Onalaja granted bail to the accused, setting it at N250,000 with two sureties required to provide an equal sum. The case is scheduled for mention on March 14.

In a separate legal matter, Moses Ayantoye, a pastor affiliated with the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), was re-arraigned before an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan. Originally charged with 23 counts on February 8, 2022, Ayantoye now faces 31 revised charges, including allegations of impersonation, forgery, and defamation.

During the recent hearing, prosecutor Michael Lana revealed that the defendant, Ayantoye, had sent a letter to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 11, Osogbo, using a fake CAC letterhead. The letter reportedly contained false accusations against pastors, the church’s solicitor, and officers of the Corporate Affairs Commission. Lana further asserted that Ayantoye, without authorization, obtained church records and sent a fraudulent letter to the Legal Practitioners and Privileges Committee with the intention of defrauding.
