BREAKING NEWS: Five-Storey Building Collapses in Anambra, Many Feared Trapped

A five-storey building under construction collapsed at Basden Street, Fegge, in Onitsha, Anambra State, raising concerns about the safety of individuals who may have been inside at the time.

The building, intended for commercial use upon completion, crumbled in the early hours of Sunday while some construction workers were reportedly on the top floor.

An excavator has been dispatched to the site to clear debris and facilitate potential rescue efforts for anyone trapped beneath the rubble.

At the time of reporting on Sunday, one person had been rescued, but the total number of individuals affected remains uncertain.

The cause of the collapse has yet to be determined, and efforts to reach the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, for confirmation were unsuccessful.

Similarly, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, Chinyere Nworah, has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
