Bank of Agriculture To Empower Over 27,000 Women With Grants In Benue State

Bank of Agriculture is to give grants and other soft loans to 27,600 women across Benue State as part of efforts to empower the rural women economically.
Benue State Commissioner in charge of Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Mrs Joy Luga, who made this disclosure in Makurdi stated that the grants and soft loans are meant to empower the women and make them self reliant.
According to the statement by the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue on Media and Publicity, Bridget Kyado, quotes the Commissioner as explaining that the decision to include Benue rural women in government’s plans was in line with Governor Alia’s strategic development plan.
The Commissioner who lauded the Governor for providing funds to be disbursed to women across the state, pointed out that Governor Alia, has been pushing to ensure that women receive all support to excel.
She explained that the Ministry had commenced training of women in various skills such as ICT training, beads making, hair designing, soap, beauty and cosmetics, detergent making among others, which soft loans would be given to them after the training.
The Commissioner continued: ” At our own level in Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, we have mapped out modalities on how to empower the women in the society”.
Mrs Luga, averred that the essence of training the women is to ensure that they utilize the loans so that they will impact positively the lives of their immediate families and communities in general.
