2027: I Have No Anointed Candidates, Says Kaduna Governor Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says he has no preferred candidates ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, pledging not to interfere in the selection of party flag bearers for the 2027 general elections. The governor made the statement during an Iftar with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, according to a statement by his media aide, Ibraheem Musa.

Sani urged aspirants to seek the support of party members, stressing that the outcome of the primaries would reflect the will of the people. “I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries. I will abide by what the people decide,” he said. He, however, reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed confidence in backing the party’s presidential candidate in 2027.

The governor advised aspirants who may lose in the primaries to remain loyal to the party, warning that internal divisions could weaken its electoral chances. On security, Sani said the situation in Kaduna has improved since he assumed office in 2023, though challenges remain. He stated that 535 schools and 85 health facilities previously closed due to insecurity have been reopened.

He also disclosed that the 35-kilometre Bagoma–Gagumi road linking 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari is under construction, while a contract has been awarded for the Mando–Birnin Gwari road.
