By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.

As Eid-el Fitr is approaching, the price of food items and other consumables are now dropping and very much affordable to the people of all categories after long overdue price hike.

Our correspondent who was at some local markets to ascertain the commodity price situation gathered that the price of all types of food items is currently dropping at both markets and retails shops in many communities which is an indication that in the near future, food items would become more affordable to consumers.

At Bichi market, the price of food items like local rice, maize, Sorghum, millet, beans and other related consumables has dropped and made available to buyers, while the price of animals at Badume market also surprisingly dropped which resulted in the bulk purchase for Sallah celebrations.

Malam Amadu Ibrahim, a small ruminants animals vendor stated that ” the price of animals dropped unlike at previous time when a small goat is sold at higher cost than now which is a testimony that life will become more simple , I am happy to see that everybody can afford to celebrate easily “. He added.

Other animals like hens, cock, turkey, geese, guinea fowl, goats hare and rams are also affordable according to the demands, while everybody is seen busy trying to acquire items to celebrate as usual.
