Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission has filed new corruption charges against the immediate past governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The commission’s chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, revealed this on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ show on Tuesday, accusing the Ganduje administration of embezzling public funds.
Magaji stated that investigations revealed the misappropriation of N51.3 billion from local government funds, which were unlawfully redirected into private accounts.
According to Magaji, the Ganduje administration also illegally withdrew N1 billion monthly from the state’s coffers. He also claimed that N4 billion was transferred from Kano’s consolidated revenue account to an agricultural company without justification.
“We have a case of N4 billion that was sent from the consolidated revenue account of Kano State to an agricultural company. All these cases are before the court,” he said.
Leadership reports that Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with his wife, son, two aides, and two private companies, are scheduled to appear before a Kano State High Court on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, on charges related to bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds, including accepting bribes worth N1.3 billion in US dollars brought forward by the Kano State government.
