Court Approves Substituted Service of DNA Test Notice for Mohbad’s Wife

The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has authorized the service of a DNA test notice on Wunmi, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, via substituted means.

According to a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, the court approved the service of notice by posting the application on Wunmi’s last-known address.

The Aloba family’s legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, filed the application on behalf of Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, seeking an order to serve Wunmi through substituted means after failed attempts by the court sheriff.

Odumosu explained that the court’s order would ensure Wunmi is aware of the pending suit. The family is challenging the paternity of Mohbad’s child, baby Liam, and has requested that Wunmi and the child undergo DNA testing.

Wunmi had previously expressed willingness to undergo a DNA test, but Odumosu stated she had not been available for the court sheriff to serve the motion.

The court adjourned the matter until next month for the report of service.

Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated they were unaware of the court order, but if they received one, they would advise her to comply.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, and his death has sparked significant controversy. The Lagos State Police established a special team to investigate the singer’s death.

His passing also resulted in the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial socialite Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry, among others. Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
