UPDATED: Three Dead, Two Injured in Kano Building Collapse, Confirms NEMA

Following the collapse of a three-storey building in the Kuntau area of Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, three individuals have tragically lost their lives, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Dr. Nuradeen Abdullahi, the NEMA Kano Coordinator, confirmed the incident on Friday, revealing that two others sustained injuries.

“We received a distress call today, Friday, around 9:30 am from a good Samaritan reporting a three-storey building under construction that had collapsed in the Kuntau area,” Abdullahi stated. “Five persons were rescued and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Hospital, where three of them were confirmed dead, while the remaining two, who sustained injuries, are currently receiving treatment.”

Abdullahi added that the rescue operation was ongoing to save any other individuals who might be trapped in the debris.

“Personnel from NEMA, State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC, and SEMA are involved in the rescue operation to free the remaining persons trapped in the building,” Abdullahi affirmed.

Similarly, Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed that their personnel were still actively engaged in the rescue efforts.

“We received the report of the incident, and our men are still at the scene of the incident, endeavoring to rescue the victims,” Abdullahi stated.
