Security operatives seals community clinic over alleged quackery, death in Jos

By Isreal Adamu, Jos

Security operatives on Sunday, sealed AL-Ihsan clinic , located in Unguwan Rogo Community in Jos North local government area of Plateau State, due to allegations of quackery and a reported death of a patient who received treatment at the clinic.

The death of a woman, last week in the community following a surgery supposedly performed by a Doctor in the hospital had sparked mixed reactions around the area with many attributing the death to the surgery, which has subsequently raised concern about his medical specialty.

Sources from the community who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said the action by the security operatives was a response to a complaint filed by some members of the community to the state ministry of health and the DSS regarding the alleged quackery activities taking place in the clinic.

According to Sadis Muhammad Albasu, a community member who shared his account of the situation, he said ”The primary reason for sealing the hospital is the alleged quackery activities at the clinic, which came to light after a woman’s death following a surgical procedure there.

The issue is that the Doctor Who carried out the surgery is not a qualified medical doctor; in fact, he is not a doctor at all, and therefore lacks the necessary qualifications to perform surgical procedures.”

“A lot of people are complaining and that was why the matter was reported to the state ministry of health for necessary actions.

He is currently schooling but he has been carrying out surgery on people in the community, ” Albasu explained.
