Nigerian Bandit Kingpin, Kachallah Mai Daji, Arrested by Niger Forces

In a significant victory against trans-border banditry, the Niger Armed Forces have successfully captured Kachallah Mai Daji, a notorious Nigerian bandit kingpin, near the border town of Illela, Niger.

Described by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama as a figure of terror and devastation in northeastern Nigeria for over a decade, Kachallah Mai Daji has been responsible for numerous atrocities. Makama highlighted his extensive record of violence, including killings, village burnings, mass kidnappings, and the imposition of levies on local communities.

The bandit leader operated prominently in the Illela region, instilling fear in villages such as Tozai, Sabon Garin Darna, Darna Tsolawo, Tudun Gudali, Basanta, Ɗan Kadu, Takalmawa, Gidan Hamma, Ambarura, Gidan Bulutu, and several others in the vicinity.

Kachallah Mai Daji’s apprehension occurred as he attempted to smuggle livestock across the Nigeria-Niger border, where Nigerien forces intercepted and detained him.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, tragedy struck in Gamboru-Ngala and Dikwa local government areas of Borno State, as two vehicles reportedly triggered suspected bandit-planted land
