Benue NURTW Passes Confidence Vote On Gov Alia

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Benue State Chapter, has passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, over his unwavering commitment and immense contributions to the socio-economic development and wellbeing of people of the state.

Briefing Journalists at the drivers’ house shortly after the State Executive Council, SEC, meeting of the union, the State Caretaker Chairman, Mr Julius Agbatar, noted that NURTW unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the governor for exhibiting visionary leadership that has significantly impacted the lives of Benue people.

“The landmark achievements you have recorded since becoming governor, attest to your unwavering commitment towards uplifting our dear state to enviable heights. This is evident in the numerous people oriented projects; including the award of contract for construction of township and rural roads, provision of streets lights, construction of overhead bridges among others.

“The meeting was good, the resolution we took at the meeting were based on the union’s activities. Congress passed a vote of confidence on the governor due to his excellent performance of his duties since he assumed office. These include roads construction, award of contract for construction of overhead bridges, provision of streets lights among several others.”

Commenting on the issue of the union’s elections, Mr Agbatar, explained that arrangements have reached an advanced stage to conduct the state polls, adding that it will be followed by the branch election and unit respectively.

His words: “we are conducting elections because the caretaker was for three months, and now we are approaching six months, next month will be six months. We are ready for the election.

“The national officials were to visit the state to interact with government but unfortunately, they couldn’t make it because the people they were to come and interact with were not in town. So the journey has been postponed, they will give us another date to come and conduct our election.

The Caretaker Chairman who is a top contender for the Benue State Chairmanship position of the NURTW, expressed optimism that members of the union will overwhelmingly vote him at the polls due to his exemplary leadership style.
