Kaduna: Terrorists attack Akwando community, kidnap residents

Barely a week after kidnapping two journalists and their family members, armed terrorists have reportedly invaded a community known as Akwando, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and abducted unspecified number of residents.

The incident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday also led to the burning of a house and two shops during the terror attack which allegedly lasted for hours.

According to local sources three people who sustained various degrees of injury during the attack are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

The source said, “The bandits came in their large numbers, attacked the community some minutes after midnight. The attack was carried out from the market downward to other houses in the community.

“Many people were kidnapped by the terrorists, about three others were injured and are receiving treatment in a hospital. They also burnt one house and two shops during their attack”, he states.

He also stated that the terrorists operated for hours and kidnapped over 10 people, saying that as he was talking, he could not ascertain the number of those abducted in the community.

All efforts to clarify with the Kaduna state police command’s spokesman, Asp Mansir Hassan proved abortive as he could not respond till press time.
