Governor Dapo Abiodun Urges Youths to Choose Dialogue Over Protests

By Milcah Tanimu

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has called on Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue instead of participating in the planned protest for August. Speaking with the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and other youth organizations in the state, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of addressing issues through constructive dialogue and civic engagement.

Governor Abiodun assured the youths that the federal government is aware of their concerns regarding the country’s current situation. He highlighted the steps his administration has taken to address these challenges and involve youths in state governance.

“Our administration is dedicated to including young people in governance. We have appointed many youths into key roles and created opportunities through initiatives like the job portal and local content law,” the Governor stated.

He also mentioned the establishment of separate ministries for sport and youth development to better cater to the specific needs of the youth. Additionally, he revealed plans to appoint a new Commissioner for Youth Development to ensure that the youth have a strong voice in government.

Governor Abiodun acknowledged the criticisms, especially on social media, but remained committed to his development agenda. “Objective criticism is welcome, as it helps us improve our services to the state,” he said.

The Governor expressed confidence that through dialogue and collaboration, the issues facing the state can be addressed, leading to a better future for all.
