Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Advise Youths Against Joining Protest Amid Hardship

By Milcah Tanimu

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) has urged youths to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest, emphasizing the importance of allowing the region to recover after recent attacks.

Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, Chairman of the SKCLA and Vision Pioneer of Throneroom Trust Ministry in Kafanchan, made this appeal during a special Thanksgiving service for elected and appointed officials from Southern Kaduna. The event, organized in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Southern Kaduna Zone, took place on Sunday in Kafanchan.

Kure acknowledged the hunger and economic difficulties facing the region, along with the rest of the country, but cautioned against joining protests that could be hijacked by adversaries to create further crises and hinder the healing process.

He urged the community to give the government more time to address the issues left by previous administrations, highlighting the current government’s efforts to provide hope and inclusivity through appointments and projects.

The Vice Chairman of SKCLA and Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, explained that the program, themed “The Hands of Thanksgiving and Prayer,” aimed to remind elected and appointed officials of their moral duty to represent the people faithfully.

“We are here to pray for you and chart a new path for uniting our people, aligning our goals, hopes, and aspirations with the objectives of modern-day politics,” Kundi said. He expressed concern over the disunity among political elites, calling it detrimental to the community’s growth.

The guest speaker, Reverend Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat Mallam, President of ECWA, urged officials to be diligent and faithful, encouraging them to lead Southern Kaduna towards a brighter future.

Responding on behalf of the officials, Mr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, Member representing Zango-Kataf/Jaba Constituency at the House of Representatives, thanked SKCLA for the event, which he described as exceptional. Magaji appealed to the community to avoid the planned August 1 protest, warning of potential negative consequences if the protest were to be hijacked by hoodlums.
