The Federal Government says it is setting up a “Delivery Unit” to manage the tracking and monitoring of approved policies, programs and projects by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), in line with the government’s priority areas.
This was declared on Saturday in Lagos State by Mr Babatunde Lawal, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office (CAO), Office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
In a statement issued by the current Director-General of the Center for Management Development (CMD), Mr. Bitrus Chinoko, Lawal was quoted as saying the unit will be domiciled in the CAO.
Lawal spoke at a specialized training program organized by COA on policy management processes and cabinet documents for ministry, department and agency (MDA) executive and senior level officials.
He recalled that at the beginning of the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari, a retreat was held for new ministers, Federal Permanent Secretaries and other top government officials to inform them on the administration’s new vision.
“One of the major outcomes of the retreat was that Ministerial mandates should be developed in line with the vision of the President to build a prosperous economy, eradicate corruption and provide security for all Nigerians.
“A Delivery Unit is also being established in the OSGF/CAO to coordinate the tracking and monitoring of Federal Executive Council approved policies, programmes and projects, in line with the priority areas of Government.
“The team is expected to work closely with the Directors and Relationship Officers of MDAs to drive implementation of government policies, programmes and projects,” Lawal said.
