Flood Devastates Bauchi Community: Two Dead, One Injured

In a tragic event, a severe flood has claimed two lives and left one person injured in the Dalmari community of Tarmasuwa, Gamawa Local Government Area, Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria. The disaster occurred on the night of August 15, 2024, following intense and prolonged rainfall.

According to Idi Garba, the village head of Tarmasuwa, the flooding caused a building to collapse while a 16-year-old boy was asleep inside with his brother. The boy died in the incident, while his brother survived with injuries. An elderly man also perished in a separate collapse.

The flood resulted in extensive damage, destroying numerous homes and properties. The full scale of the devastation is still being assessed. In response to the tragedy, Garba has called for urgent assistance from the government and charitable individuals, as many residents are now homeless and have lost their food supplies and possessions.

This flood is part of a series of recent flooding incidents in the region, which has been repeatedly affected by heavy rains. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had previously issued flood alerts for Gamawa and surrounding areas, including Shira, Giade, and Katagum, due to ongoing rainfall concerns.
