A Canadian based E-Learning platform, 1 Million Teachers (1MT), has successfully trained no fewer than 300 Secondary School teachers in the underserved communities in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The teachers from both junior and senior schools were trained on leadership, personal and modern pedagogical skills through 1 Million Teachers. These skills will enhance their service delivery in class.

The founder and CEO of 1Million Teachers, Mr Hakeem Subair, gave this hint at a Teachers’ Conference, The Phenomenon 2.0, organised in Abuja by Phenomenon Edu Impact, a platform under Olasunkanmi Opeifa Education Foundation, a non-governmental organisation founded by Mr Olasunkanmi Opeifa, the 2021 BIC Cristal Pen Award Winner and 2018 Maltina Teacher of the Year.

The annual conference and second in the series, was held in Abuja recently with some of the trainees in attendance.
According to Subair, the training of over 300 teachers is a significant milestone for the 1 Million Teachers community.
He said the organisation was founded to provide educators across the world (especially in Africa), at primary and secondary school levels with access to world-class capacity development in educational methodologies, pedagogies and leadership.

He noted that the beliefs of the organisation is that when teachers are well- equipped with requisite professional skills, pedagogical and leadership skills that will help them to deliver their curriculum in class more effectively, students learning experience will be impactful.

He noted that every Nigerian teacher whether in urban or remote communities need to be exposed to knowledge and skills that will help them to prepare their students well for global relevance, hence the essence of the intervention.

Subair congratulated the trainees and urged them to make good use of the new knowledge back home.

He also commended Olasunkanmi Opeifa Education Foundation, particularly its Phenomenon Edu Impact platform for collaborating with the organisation in driving development in teaching profession and education sector generally in Nigeria.

He said the collaboration is yielding tremendous results.
