Palliatives: Yoruba Northern Council of Obas Alleges Sidelining of Non-Indigenes

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Chairman of the Council of Yoruba Obas and Chiefs in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, Ambassador Muhammad Arigbabuwo, has raised concerns about the alleged exclusion of non-indigenes from the distribution of palliatives among citizens.

In a statement expressing his dissatisfaction, Arigbabuwo called on state governors to ensure that non-indigenes are included in the distribution of palliatives within their states.

The statement, signed and released to the media in Kaduna, emphasized that non-indigenes have been completely overlooked in the current distribution scheme.

“If we truly are one Nigeria and not a satellite, we are equally entitled to and deserve fair justice,” Arigbabuwo stated.

He urged the President, National Assembly, and other relevant authorities to address the issue and ensure that non-indigenes are considered in the distribution of palliatives in various states.

“We are aware of several humanitarian and financial supports in the form of palliatives being given exclusively to indigenes,” Arigbabuwo emphasized.

Regarding security, he commended security chiefs for their efforts in restoring national peace and unity, particularly during the recent nationwide “End Bad Governance Protest.”

He also called on Nigerians to continue praying for the effective functioning of the current administration.
