In a significant push to reinvigorate the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, South-West leaders have called on the newly inaugurated caretaker committee to spearhead efforts aimed at repositioning the party for future success.
The call came during the inauguration ceremony, led by Kamarudeen Ajisafe, the PDP Southwest National Vice Chairman, in Ibadan. The event marked the official transition from Alaba Agboola, the former chairman of Ekiti PDP, to the new caretaker chairman, Hon. Dare Adeleke.
Ajisafe voiced strong support for the newly formed committee, expressing confidence in its ability to unify and lead the PDP towards victory in Ekiti. The ceremony was attended by influential figures from all six South-West states, including former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Hazeem Gbalarumin, who urged the committee to seize the moment and restore the party’s prominence.
PDP Southwest spokesperson Sanya Atofarati commended the leadership of Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke for creating a favorable environment for the party’s growth. He confirmed that the 22-member committee’s appointment, headed by Adeleke, adheres to the PDP constitution’s provisions.
Chairman Dare Adeleke promised to focus on reconciliation and unity among party members, pledging to address party discipline, unity, and renewal of confidence. The committee, comprising key members such as Ayodele Joshua and Olonila Benjamin, is set to drive the PDP’s strategic agenda and ensure a smooth transition in Ekiti.
