“Settle Down to Deliver Dividends of Democracy to Plateau People,” Senator Lalong Charges House Members

With the final five members of the Plateau State House of Assembly inaugurated in compliance with the Court of Appeal judgment and the rule of law, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District and leader of the APC in the state, has urged the House to begin delivering quality representation to their constituents.

While congratulating the newly inaugurated members for their resilience, determination, and patience in adhering to the rule of law, Lalong expressed regret that they could only assume office after months of delay caused by the Speaker.

He commended the members for their patience and sacrifices in following the legal process without resorting to unlawful actions, and for maintaining faith in the party’s leadership to manage the situation without compromising the peace and security of the state.

With the full complement of 24 members now in the House of Assembly, Senator Lalong expressed hope that the intrigues of the past eight months would be set aside, allowing the honorable members to focus on legislative business.

He extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, members of the National Assembly from Plateau State, the APC State Executive, and all democracy advocates who condemned the undemocratic actions of Speaker Rt. Hon. Dewan, which posed a serious threat to the nation’s hard-earned democracy.

As a former Speaker of the House and two-term Governor of Plateau State, Senator Lalong, during a recent APC stakeholders meeting in Jos, dispelled rumors that the swearing-in of the members would lead to the impeachment of the Governor, calling such propaganda unfounded and reckless.

He wished the members well and reminded them that the time for politics is over, and the focus should now be on governance.
