Former Edo State Governor and current Senator Adams Oshiomhole has declared that Governor Godwin Obaseki is politically dead in the wake of the recent governorship election results in Edo State. Oshiomhole made this statement during an interview on Channels TV, reflecting on the outcome of the election where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.

Oshiomhole emphasized that the people of Edo would not sacrifice their lives for any politician, stating, “We subscribe to President Jonathan’s school, which says the election of even a president is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.” He criticized the actions of the PDP national chairman, who spoke of potential violence in the wake of the election, implying that such rhetoric is inappropriate and irresponsible.

The senator asserted that the defeat of the PDP signifies Obaseki’s political demise. He noted, “When you asked him, he said, if they did, then they would be dead. Now the people have done it. I guess he is politically dead.” Oshiomhole pointed out that the electorate has made their choice clear by voting for Okpebholo, who was elected as a senator last year and has now been declared the governor-elect.

Oshiomhole’s comments underscore the shifting political landscape in Edo State and reflect the sentiments of voters as they respond to the recent election outcomes.
