Transfer of Teachers by Benue TSB Has No Political Influence – Acting Executive Secretary

By Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Benue State Teaching Service Board (TSB), Mr. Tsea Ahule, has clarified that the transfer of teachers within the TSB is free from political influence, contrary to allegations from some quarters that certain transfers were influenced by politicians.

In an exclusive interview with Daybreak in Makurdi, Mr. Ahule explained that teacher transfers are a normal practice. However, he noted that whenever transfers occur, the Board often receives numerous calls of concern.

“Transfers within the Teaching Service Board have no political undertones. The transfers we have implemented are not subject to political control or interference. One of our responsibilities is to ensure that schools without teachers are provided with them,” he stated.

Mr. Ahule hinted that one reason for the transfer of teachers is to ensure that those who have overstayed in a particular location are reassigned to other schools, which he described as a routine procedure.

“We don’t have enough teachers, and some schools have an excess. The principals have requested that we move certain teachers. We have decided that where there are more than three or four teachers for a subject, we will transfer some of them to schools that lack teachers,” he explained.

“Transfers are normal, but whenever certain individuals are transferred, we receive numerous calls, which is not beneficial. Teachers who have overstayed in their positions can be transferred to other locations; it is a normal procedure.”

Mr. Ahule urged teachers to remain committed to their responsibilities of imparting quality knowledge to the children of Benue, warning that anyone found lacking in their duties will be shown the way out.
