The Akwa Ibom State Government is set to unveil an employment portal next week in Uyo, designed to streamline job opportunities for unemployed and underemployed youths in the state.
Speaking at a media presentation in Uyo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerette Udo, noted that while the state is mourning the recent passing of the Governor’s wife, the government remains committed to advancing its developmental projects.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, introduced the *Arise Youth Employment Portal*, which will serve as the official platform where youths in Akwa Ibom can register for employment opportunities and training from both the state government and private sector.
“The portal will allow applicants to create an account with their personal information, such as name, passport photo, phone number, email address, NIN, VIN, and academic qualifications, helping employers verify eligibility,” Ekpenyong explained.
The portal will be open to unemployed Akwa Ibom indigenes and will be used for various programs, including the recruitment of 5,000 youths for N50,000 monthly empowerment, the Dakkada Skill Acquisition Training, and employment into the Ibom Community Watch.
Ekpenyong also mentioned that the portal would have advanced security features to prevent hacking, assist employers in identifying skilled candidates, and allow applicants to update their resumes.
Governor Umo Eno had previously pledged to launch this platform during a youth engagement rally last month.
