NAF Airlifts Relief Materials for Borno Flood Victims

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the airlift of relief materials that First Lady Sen. Remi Tinubu donated to flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State. This initiative underscores NAF’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance in the region.

According to a statement from Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information, a NAF C-130 aircraft transported the materials from Abuja to Maiduguri on Wednesday. Notably, this operation is part of the First Lady’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which aims to support affected communities.

The relief materials included food items, clothing, sanitary essentials, and toys for children. These donations aim to provide much-needed support to communities devastated by flooding on September 10.

Furthermore, NAF officers, led by the Air Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, received the materials in Maiduguri and handed them over to the state government for distribution to the victims. This process ensures that aid reaches those most in need efficiently.

Akinboyewa emphasized that this mission reflects NAF’s dedication to timely humanitarian assistance, especially in regions severely impacted by natural disasters. In addition, he noted the collaboration between the First Lady’s office and the NAF, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in alleviating the suffering of flood victims in Borno State.

Previously, the NAF launched a medical outreach program to support flood victims and provided food for over 2,000 internally displaced persons in the aftermath of the disaster. Thus, NAF continues to play a vital role in disaster response and community support in Nigeria.
