To mark the 2024 World Radiography Day, the Kaduna State Branch of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria has initiated a series of events, including a free medical outreach, visits to secondary schools and media outlets, and sporting activities.
The Chairman of the Kaduna branch, Comrade Ahmad Adamu, announced this during the event’s opening ceremony at the Primary Healthcare Center in Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna. The event commenced with a free medical outreach offering ultrasound scans to residents of the Gabasawa area.
Expressing his gratitude for the event’s success, Adamu described the outreach as a supportive gesture for patients, helping them on their journey to recovery. He emphasized the importance of visiting secondary schools as part of the celebration, noting the outreach aims to inspire young people, especially women, to consider radiography as a vital medical career.
In his remarks, Mr. Madi Shuaibu, the association’s treasurer, highlighted the critical role of radiography as “the eyes of medical practice.” He urged government bodies and stakeholders to invest in radiography laboratories in public hospitals to address high demands and reduce diagnostic costs for patients across Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Many beneficiaries of the free medical services expressed their gratitude, sharing that the outreach relieved them of the financial burden of necessary diagnostic procedures recommended by their doctors.
Additionally, the president of the Association of Radiography Students at Kaduna State University praised the events as a valuable experience, especially as students were actively involved by the main association, marking a significant step in their educational journey.
