Assistant Comptroller General Meets Officers, Stakeholders in Sokoto

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Customs in charge of Zone “B,” Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima, recently visited the Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command, where he conducted an interactive session with customs officers, stakeholders, licensed agents, the Car Dealers Association of Nigeria (Sokoto chapter), and the National Association of Onion Producers and Marketers of Nigeria.

The Customs Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar, stated that the visit aimed to strengthen trade facilitation through a more effective and efficient system.

In his remarks, ACG Dangaladima highlighted the Customs Service’s commitment, under Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to facilitate seamless trade in alignment with global best practices. He outlined the deployment of various trade facilitation tools, including the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, Time Release Studies (TRS), and Advance Ruling (AR), all designed to bolster international trade compliance. He urged stakeholders to adhere strictly to Customs regulations.

The Sokoto/Zamfara Area Comptroller, Comptroller Kamal Muhammad, welcomed ACG Dangaladima’s dedication and support for the Command. Kamal praised the ACG’s commitment, noting, “Zone B covers the largest landmass of all four zones, presenting unique oversight challenges. Despite these and security obstacles, ACG Dangaladima has made a significant effort to assess each Command firsthand.”

Comptroller Kamal encouraged stakeholders to share observations, suggestions, and challenges, emphasizing that the ACG is dedicated to conveying their feedback to the Comptroller General of Customs.

Alhaji Aminu Dan’iya, Chairman of the Sokoto Association of Customs Licensed Agents, lauded the ACG for organizing such an engagement, noting it as a rare initiative in the last decade. He assured the ACG that his members would remain law-abiding and compliant stakeholders.

ACG Dangaladima also held a session with officers, urging them to uphold the Customs Service motto of justice and honesty in their duties.
