No Bomb Explosion in Jos, Says Governor Caleb Mutfwang

By  Israel Adamu, Jos

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has dismissed rumors of an alleged Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at the old Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) site near Terminus Market in Jos North Local Government Area.

In an official statement, Governor Mutfwang clarified that the alarm was baseless, triggered by individuals who mistakenly interpreted a pile of polythene bags as a potential threat. This report caused widespread fear and panic among local residents.

The statement, signed by Bere Gyang, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, explained that security agencies, including the anti-bomb squad from the Plateau State Police Command, responded promptly, conducting a thorough cordon and search operation at the scene. After an extensive inspection, no evidence of any explosive device was found.

The Governor urged all Plateau citizens to remain vigilant and act as responsible ambassadors of the state, protecting its reputation and rich heritage. He assured the public of his administration’s dedication to maintaining security across Plateau State, working relentlessly to restore peace and stability in the region.

Governor Mutfwang encouraged residents, particularly those around Terminus Market, to resume their daily activities without fear and to report any suspicious activities to security personnel for swift action. He emphasized the importance of community support for the government’s mission for sustainable peace and prosperity.
