Foundation Advocates Attitudinal Change Amongst School Principals, Urges Govt To Increase Education Funding

The Foundation for Correction of Moral Decadence, FCMD, has called for attitudinal change in principals and teachers in secondary schools and for the government to increase budgetary allocation on education.

National President of the Foundation, Dr. Joseph Danley Obiechie for the umpteenth time made the call during an Attitudinal Change Workshop organized by the Foundation for FCT Junior Secondary School Principals on 12th November 2024.

Speaking to the school administrators, Obiechie said a paradigm shift is needed and a shift of mindset to enable Nigeria to join the comity of civilized nations. Additionally, school principals must carry out their jobs passionately and with a high sense of responsibility to administer the needed love and care to students under their care.

His words: “Principals should treat our beloved children (students) in their respective care as they could attend to their biological children. Furthermore, the need to perform their civic responsibilities with passion should be prioritized. Bringing passion and love to bear on our civic responsibilities enables us to perform our job effortlessly, effectively, and efficiently with sincerity and dynamism.”

Obiechie told them (principals) that they are leaders, pacesetters of monumental proportion and lovable nature everyone looks upon especially children, the backbone of all nations on earth; for that alone, they should see themselves as more Distinguished than those in the National Assembly.

He urged for more funding of education in Nigeria, insisting that: “the present Government of Federal Republic of Nigeria should see the special need of beefing up the budgetary allocation of Education for Education is the bedrock of any progressive nation.”

The Director of Universal Basic Education Board Dr. Hajia Ramatu expressed her immense gratitude to our Organisation for also giving free charge training or Moral Adjustment seminars to all the Vice Principals and further admonished the Principals to imbibe the teachings and tenets of the Foundation.

At the end of the workshop, the Principals in attendance expressed deep appreciation and readiness to implement lessons learned. They, however, branded the seminar the Best Attitudinal Change programme they have ever attended, while stressing that the country needs such a message at a time like this in the country.
