By Israel Adamu, Jos

In a bid to foster peace, unity, and inclusive governance, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State hosted National Assembly members from the state in a strategic meeting to align efforts for rebuilding and advancing Plateau.

Held at the Governor’s residence in the Old Government House, Jos, the meeting provided an opportunity for Governor Mutfwang to outline his administration’s vision for restoring the state’s lost glory and ensuring equitable development across all communities.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Governor Mutfwang stressed the need for synergy among leaders, irrespective of party affiliations. “We have come to the realization that without unity and collaboration, we cannot move Plateau forward,” the Governor stated in a release signed by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs.

He added, “This meeting symbolizes our collective resolve to bury political differences in the interest of our people. Today marks a new beginning, as elected representatives from the PDP, APC, and Labour Party have resolved to work together for the Plateau project. I am confident this signifies a brighter future for Plateau State.”

Former Governor and Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Bako Lalong, praised the Governor’s initiative. Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly members, Senator Lalong expressed optimism about the state’s future. “We have had a fruitful interaction, shared our views, and pledged to address Plateau’s challenges collectively. Under Governor Mutfwang’s leadership, Plateau will witness significant transformation,” he said.

The meeting saw attendance from key National Assembly members, including:

  • Senator Diket Plang (Plateau Central)
  • Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Wase Federal Constituency, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives)
  • Hon. John Dafaan (Quan’pan/Shendam/Mikang Federal Constituency)
  • Hon. Prince Vincent Venman Bulus (Langtang North and South Federal Constituency)
  • Hon. Ishaya Lalu (Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency)
  • Hon. Alfred Illiya Ajang (Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency)
  • Hon. Daniel Asama (Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency)

Absent due to official engagements abroad were Senator Pam Dung Gyang (Plateau North) and Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi (Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency).

This milestone meeting signifies a commitment to unity and progress, with leaders pledging to work together to deliver on the Plateau project and improve the well-being of its citizens.
