These efforts aim to enhance operational safety and efficiency.

The event, held during the NAF Training Operations and Safety Seminar in Abuja, also marked the unveiling of a compendium of all aircraft accident investigation reports in the NAF’s history.

Milestones in Training

According to Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), the NAF trained 54 pilots abroad and 43 locally from January to November 2024. Additionally, 16 UAV operators underwent local training.

Other highlights include the training of 405 airmen and 186 officers across courses, seminars, and international trips. Over 5,474 personnel completed local training, while 1,331 are currently undergoing training.

Zero Aircraft Accidents

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the NAF’s achievement of zero manned-aircraft accidents in 2024, attributing the success to continued investments in safety measures.

“I am proud to launch our first-ever Safety Management System manual and a compendium of aircraft accident investigation reports. These initiatives will help ensure past mistakes are not repeated,” he said.

Accreditations and Partnerships

The seminar also featured the presentation of an Accreditation Certificate by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to the NAF Air Traffic Services Training Centre, formally recognizing it as an Approved Training Organization (ATO).

Additionally, Air Marshal Abubakar signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau and the Hybrid Health, Safety, and Environment Group to strengthen aviation safety standards.

Honouring Heroes

The NAF honoured commanders for their exceptional gallantry and leadership during operations in Zamfara State, which led to the elimination of notorious bandit leaders.

“These commanders exemplify the highest ideals of service to our nation. Their courage inspires us all,” Abubakar noted.

The NAF continues to prioritize safety, training, and recognition as cornerstones of its mission to safeguard Nigeria’s airspace and contribute to national security.
