Oshiomhole to Deliver Keynote Address on Economic Reforms at Nigeria Today Annual Lecture

By Abigail Philip David

Former Edo State governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, is set to deliver the keynote address at the second edition of the Nigeria Today Magazine Annual Lecture. The event, titled **“The Imperatives of Strategic Economic Reforms in Nigeria’s Quest for Sustainable Development,”** will take place on Wednesday at the Umar Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of *Nigeria Today Magazine*, Hon. Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, explained the rationale behind choosing Oshiomhole as the keynote speaker.

“Oshiomhole’s extensive experience as a labour leader, state governor, and now a senator uniquely positions him to provide insightful perspectives on Nigeria’s economic challenges and the way forward,” Chikamnayo said.

He noted that Oshiomhole’s lecture aims to foster constructive dialogue around governance and reforms, urging Nigerians to focus on collaboration and innovative solutions rather than divisive politics.

Notable Guests and Awards

The event will be graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima as the Chief Guest of Honour and Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass as the Special Guest. Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, will chair the occasion.

Dignitaries from government, academia, business, and labour unions are expected to attend the lecture.

The event will also feature an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding Nigerians.
– Senate President Godswill Akpabio will be celebrated as **Man of the Year**.
– Governors Chukwuma Soludo (Anambra State) and Uba Sani (Kaduna State) will be honoured as **Governors of the Year**.
– First Ladies from Taraba, Imo, and Kwara States will be acknowledged as **First Ladies of the Year** in recognition of their contributions to their states.

This high-profile gathering promises to provide critical insights into Nigeria’s economic reform agenda and celebrate individuals making significant contributions to national development.
