Former Minister Bolaji Abdullahi Resigns from PDP

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Bolaji Abdullahi, Nigeria’s former minister of sports and youth development, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement on Monday, Abdullahi revealed he has not yet decided on his next political step, leaving the decision to “God and the future.”

This resignation comes amidst a wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Last week, Rep. Dalyop Chollom of the Labour Party (LP) from Plateau State joined the APC.

Earlier, five lawmakers—four from the Labour Party and one from the PDP—also switched allegiance to the APC. These include Reps. Tochukwu Chinedu Okere (LP, Imo), Donatus Matthew (LP, Kaduna), Akiba Bassey (LP, Cross River), Esosa Iyawe (LP, Edo), and another PDP member.

Abdullahi’s move signals continued shifts in Nigeria’s political landscape, raising questions about future alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Stay tuned for updates.
