Dr. Ismail Danmaraya: A Kwankwasiyya Scholar and Commissioner Nominee in Kano State

Dr. Ismail Danmaraya, a distinguished scholar and advocate for education and development, has been nominated as a commissioner in Kano State. Renowned for his passion for education, research, and community engagement, Danmaraya brings over a decade of experience in the education and development sectors.

Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional skills in organizing and coordinating events, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including consultants, and delivering results with high standards and timeliness.

Before his tenure at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), which began in August 2021, Danmaraya served as a lecturer at Yusuf Maitama Sule University (formerly Northwest University), Kano. During his time there, he played a key role in coordinating conferences, research initiatives, and journal publications.

Academically, Dr. Danmaraya is well-credentialed. He earned both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, and later completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Universiti Utara Malaysia. His research expertise spans energy policy, environmental economics, and sustainability, areas in which he has contributed significantly through publications in reputable journals such as:

  • Quantitative Finance and Economics
  • International Journal of Business and Management
  • International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy
  • International Journal of Social Economics
  • Dutse Journal of Economics & Development Studies
  • And many others.

Until his recent nomination, Dr. Danmaraya served as the Chairman of the Task Force Committee on the revival of 26 abandoned Kano State Entrepreneurship Institutions. His leadership in this role highlighted his dedication to fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable development within the state.

As a scholar affiliated with the Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Danmaraya’s nomination reflects his commitment to progressive ideals and the pursuit of excellence in governance. His extensive experience and academic contributions position him as a valuable asset for Kano State’s development initiatives.
