Breaking News: Lagos Assembly Swears in First Female Speaker, Mojisola Meranda

Mojisola Meranda has been sworn in as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Meranda, who represents the Apapa 1 Constituency, assumed office on Monday during a plenary session following the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

During her oath of office, Meranda pledged to uphold the duties of her position with integrity and in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She stated, “I affirm that I will be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; that I will perform my functions honestly to the best of my ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution.”

This historic appointment marks a significant milestone in the Assembly’s history.
