Renowned Hope Singer and APC Member, Jadda Garko, Criticizes National Prayer Meeting

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

In a statement widely circulated across various media platforms, renowned singer and All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Jadda Garko, delivered a scathing critique of the recent National Prayer Meeting. He questioned the motives behind the event, highlighting the numerous challenges plaguing the northeastern region, including the devastating floods in Borno State.

Garko’s statement called for transparency and accountability, voicing concerns over the purpose of the prayer meeting. “What is behind this sudden call to prayer?” he asked. “Is it a sincere effort to seek divine intervention, or a calculated distraction from the pressing issues affecting the region?”

Criticism of Leadership and Priorities

The singer drew attention to Borno State, the home state of Mele Kyari, which has been severely impacted by recent floods. Garko questioned why the focus was on organizing a prayer meeting rather than addressing the immediate needs of flood victims.

“All the calamities that have occurred in the northeastern states, and yet Mele Kyari remains indifferent,” he remarked. “His state, Borno, is grappling with floods, so why prioritize a prayer meeting at this critical time?”

Rebuke of Religious Scholars

Garko also criticized the religious scholars participating in the event, urging them to reflect on their actions and repent.

“Every scholar involved in this process should repent to God. It has become clear that the celebration of material wealth, like yams and fish, has taken precedence—a mockery of the Holy Qur’an,” he stated.

His comments underline the need for religious leaders to remain sincere and avoid actions that might undermine their spiritual integrity.

Call for Unity and Resolution

In concluding his remarks, Jadda Garko warned against using the prayer meeting as a tool to create division or conflict.

“If this event is meant to fuel discord between the Vice President and the President, it will ultimately fail. Those involved should focus on resolving their own issues rather than imposing them on others,” he asserted.

Garko’s statement reflects the growing skepticism among Nigerians regarding the motives behind the prayer meeting and calls for a greater focus on addressing the region’s pressing challenges.
