The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the neutralization of two bandits and the recovery of an AK-49 rifle during a coordinated security operation.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the operation was conducted on Tuesday by officers from the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with Special Hunters.

The mission aimed to bolster security in Gwana District and its border areas linking Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe states. Acting on credible intelligence, security operatives encountered the suspected bandits while conducting surveillance in Dajin Madan Forest.

“During the engagement, two bandits were **neutralized**, while others sustained injuries and fled into the bushes,” Wakil stated.

The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.

Wakil emphasized that the successful operation underscores the commitment of security forces and local partners to combat banditry and enhance public safety.

“The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) remains dedicated to working with community stakeholders to protect lives and property while ensuring that criminals are held accountable,” he added.

He also urged citizens to view security as a collective responsibility, encouraging public support for law enforcement in ensuring safety across the state.
